Get your tastebuds and ears ready for a club setting and barbecue galore.
Friday and Saturday, the annual Jazz and BBQ concert will take place at the Stringer Fine Art Building. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 7.
Here will be a club-like environment with classy jazz vocals and meals given from The Hickory Stick, a local business located in downtown Hutchinson.
Jazz Coordinator Jack Cassidy said that the concert has been going on for years.
“For some time, it was just the jazz choir and barbecue under the direction of now retired professor, Mr. Neal Allsup,” Cassidy said.”The past three years or so, the Instrumental Jazz program has been included.”
Cassidy said each year for the concert, they pick a different restaurant for food.
Ticket manager Bethany Newburn said that the concert is reminiscent of current jazz clubs.
“There is a beautiful connection between food, community, and enjoying music together,” Newburn said.
