The Blue Dragon basketball team traveled to Salina for their first road game of the season on Nov. 10 and won.
The final score was 83-62, advancing Hutch’s record to 5-0.
At the beginning of the game, the Dragons were down 4-12 early on.
After a three from Bashir Ahmed, Bronx, New York, the Dragons built a 13-0 run to take the lead.
The score was 17-12.
Hutch had a few more runs to seal the game; one was at the start of the second half.
The Dragons scored the first nine-points of the half.
Hutch still held the lead after an eight-minute scoreless drought.
The score was 52-39.
The Dragons took total control of the game after a 10-2 run with eight-minutes remaining.
The score was 62-41.
The Dragons held the lead the remainder of the game and won, 83-62.
The leading scorer for the Dragons was Ahmed.
Ahmed scored 32 points with 27 points coming from the first half.
He also added nine rebounds and went 10-15 from beyond the arch.
He was in foul trouble the majority of the second half, so he was only able to score five-points in the last 20-minutes.
Samajae Haynes-Jones, Wichita, scored 16 points total, 15 made in the second half.
Akbar Hoffman, Newark, New Jersey, with 11-points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
The Dragons held the rebound advantage at 51-45.
Over the weekend, the Dragons played Hesston College and NEO at home.
On Nov. 6, Hutch beat Hesston College 102-85 and on Nov. 7, they beat Northeast Oklahoma, 82-62.
Hutch is scheduled to play in the Hutch Pawn and Jewelry Classic on Nov. 13-14.
The Dragons play Lamar on Friday, Nov. 13, and the game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
