For most people that go to the Kansas State Fair it’s a family tradition, but for others it’s their first time in Kansas.
David Giwa, an Atlanta freshman, went to the fair for the first time this last week. Giwa’s thoughts on his first experience was that it smelled bad.
“Like dog poop and cow shit,” Giwa said.
Giwa mostly walked around and played the carnival games.
“The games were all scams, I spent like $50 and didn’t win anything,” Giwa said.
Giwa enjoyed eating a turkey leg from one of the food vendors at the fair.
He said one thing he liked watching was guys trying to win their girlfriends a stuffed animal at the games.
Giwa said that fair was animal oriented, but he did like the miniature goats in the petting zoo. When asked if he would attend the Kansas State Fair again Giwa said he would.
Jonathan Ngandu, a Royal, N.C. freshman, went to the fair for the first time.
Ngandu wasn’t a fan
“Iit was ass,” he said.
Ngandu did enjoy the animals especially at the petting zoo, and the poultry/rabbit barn. Even though he wasn’t a big fan, he said he would go again.
Jadyn Smith, a Lutcher, La., freshman, went to the fair for the first time. Smith said he also enjoyed the goats in the petting zoo, and like Giwa and Ngandu, he said he would return.
The Kansas State Fair might be quite different compared to fairs from other states, but for these students, they enjoyed the Kansas culture.
