Hutchinson Community College has a great cafeteria with great staffing and great food to back it up.

HutchCC is feeding almost 400 dorm students so they need the best food they can get. The cafeteria, located in Parker Student Union, is spread out from many different food selections and choices you can choose from everyday.

Every Wednesday HutchCC has a day where they make quesadillas. They have been so popular that someone made a Twitter/X account called “Quesadilla Wednesday”.

The ingredients include cheese, chicken and bacon in the inside of the tortilla toasted and served with chipotle sauce. Vegetarian options are available.

When HutchCC missed their scheduled Quesadilla Wednesday on Jan. 22, students and staff were so shocked that everyone wanted to know the reasoning behind all of this madness. They served WonTon tacos that afternoon, and the students did not complain.

“We tried to split it up a bit and we try to get in on a daily crave,” said Brenda Roberts, Food Service Director.

Students asked WonTon tacos for a long time so Roberts responded by giving people a day of WonTon tacos. Even if it’s a week at a time when it’s just WonTon tacos, quesadillas will come back.

“I try to give the students what they want whether they live on campus or off campus,” Roberts said. “I always try to give them what they want and what they are craving and looking for.”

It impacted students and the way that they go around it. HutchCC sophomore Farrin Mangelson said that “people look forward to Quesadilla Wednesday as much as they look forward to Taco Tuesday.

“I would skip a workout to get these quesadillas.”

He rates the school’s quesadillas a nine out of 10 because the portion size is too small. If they had a bigger portion size, Mangelson said he would be good with one but if they were bigger he would have to go back for seconds. Seconds that we don’t have and seconds that you could be debating on the poll for which food item you stand for.
