The Hutchinson Community College men’s basketball team has officially made it to the NJCAA Division 1 Championships, entering as the 12 seed.
HutchCC, which had some struggles late in the season after starting 17-2, still finished second in the Jayhawk Conference and Region 6 postseason tournament, falling just short against a very good Dodge City Community College in the championship game, 98-96 in overtime.
Despite the championship game loss, the Blue Dragons were able to snag the 12 seed as an at-large selection and will play the No. 21 seeded Connors State, based out of Oklahoma, at the Sports Arena on March 14 at 8:30 p.m.
The winner of that game will advance to play Chipola, the 5 seed, which currently sits at 28-5. That game will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
