At 6 p.m. on March 8, at the Atrium Hotel & Conference Center, the Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG Hutchinson) will host Drag Queen Bingo Mardi Gras Style.
There will be plenty of food, prizes, a raffle and gifts available for patros.
The event has been ongoing for the last 10 years. It started with the Kansas Equality Coalition. Since 2012, most of the drag-queen-bingo events have been affiliated with PFLAG. Last year, Charles Kerschen helped to merge PFLAG with Pride (Salt CIty Pride, Inc.).
“The event is marketed to whoever wants to come and have an entertaining evening playing bingo with drag queens calling out numbers,” said Kerschen, Religion and Philosophy Instructor at Hutchinson Community College.
They have various prizes, food, and for those old enough, alcoholic drinks at the cash bar. It’s a fundraiser for outreach to the LGBTQ+ community and for other community groups in need.
The event is for all, including for bachelor or bachelorette parties, birthday parties, or just a girls night out. All proceeds will go to PFLAG/Hutchinson Salt City Pride a 501c3 non profit.
