Hulu has launched a brand new TV series named “11-22-63.”
It is a cinematographic edition of the book, by the same name, from the famous thriller writer Stephen King.
The book was published in November 2011 and was nominated for several literacy awards.
King tells the story of a time traveler who is going to try to prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The title of the novel and show is the date of the assassination of JFK.
The show is produced by the writer and famous producer and film maker JJ Abrams. Bridget Carpenter directed the TV mini-series. It premiered on Feb. 15, 2016, on Hulu, which owns it.
We follow the story of Jake Epping, a recently divorced high school English teacher in Maine —played brilliantly by James Franco.
He discovers a door that can take you to the future in his favorite diner. Jake discovers that Al Templeton, the owner of the diner, was going through that door regularly and was planning to stop the assassination of JFK.
However, Al, played by Chris Cooper, gets sick and really tired and cannot go back in the past. So he convinces Jake to go for him and save the country.
Jake goes and we are transported back to another time. The time portal takes anyone who enters it to Texas, circa 1960.
The show is very well done, the acting is on point. It couldn’t have been any better and the scenery and costumes makes us wonder if we haven’t jumped back in time with Jake.
Franco gives an outstanding performance. He plays the character with emotions and truth.
Jack Moore from GQ Magazine described his acting as “vanity free, indulgence free and full hearted.” The chemistry between the actors is amazing and the acting of each actor is worth watching.
The action never stops; the show is dramatic but humor is seen from time to time.
The TV show works with issues of the time, like racism and abusive men in marriages.
Hulu scored big with this show.
The network will gain many followers and will enjoy good publicity.
