There’s a nightmare brewing on Plum Street as HCC’s fall homecoming arrives.

There will be a week of festivities, all leading up to the homecoming football game between the Blue Dragons and the Panthers of Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, Iowa.

The week begins with preliminary voting for the homecoming king and queen, which will be available on DragonZone at 9:00 a.m.

On Monday, Oct. 26, the HCC Student Government Association will be hosting a medallion hunt at 11 a.m., with clues being posted on DragonZone.

Monday will end with a Trick or Treat Trot from 7 to 8 p.m., with a starting line at Parker Student Union.

Tuesday’s festivities will include a volleyball game between HCC and Barton Community College located at the Hutchinson Sports Arena at 6:30 p.m., as well as a pumpkin patch party at Sweet’s Pumpkin Patch, located 8.25 miles north on Plum Street.

The party includes zip lines, hayrides, pumpkin cannons, human foosball, and several other activities.

The pumpkin patch will be open between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 28, is packed with events. The homecoming assembly will be held at Gowan’s Stadium at 10:30 a.m.

“I’m most excited for the assembly at Gowan’s. It should be a good time,” said Josh Patterson, Hutchinson.

Classes on Wednesday will be on assembly schedule, so be sure to attend the assembly.

Final voting for homecoming king and queen will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 on DragonZone.

Wednesday will end with a screening of Nightmare on Elm Street in Crimson Courtyard at 9 p.m.

Thursday’s events will begin with a volleyball game between HCC and Colby at 6:30 p.m.

Later Thursday night, the college will be hosting a Halloween costume dance from 9:30 p.m. to midnight at the South Sunflower Building on the fairgrounds.

Wear your Halloween costume and come have a good time.

Friday is relatively uneventful, although the Campus Activities Board will be serving caramel apple sundaes in the Parker Student Union foyer from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

“I think it’s really cool that they’re serving sundaes for the students,” said Halle Morris, Hutchinson.

The week will finally end with the homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Gowan’s Stadium.

Kick-off is at 1 p.m. with the homecoming king and queen crowning at half time.
