The Lady Dragon basketball team traveled to the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita on March 4 to face the Pratt Beavers.

The Dragons won 82-57; their record is now 31-0.

Hutch out-scored Pratt in the final minutes of the second half, 23-7.

Kalani Purcell, Hamilton, New Zealand, posted her 40th double-double of her career with Hutch. Purcell score 21 points and added 13 rebounds.

She had five assists and three steals. She was nine for 14 on shooting overall.

Purcell is now the leader at HCC with the most career field goals with 426.

Cynthia Petke, Yaounde, Cameroon, made seven of nine shots taken and had 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Alyx Bloom, Clay Center, had a career high of 15 points and added five assists and three steals.

Clemence LeFebvre, St. Martin, France, added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons, while Shakira Harding, Houma, Fla., scored 10 points.

The Dragons made 32-59 shot taken.

Also made three of 13 3-pointers and 15 of 26 from the foul line.

The Dragons also outrebounded the Beavers 45-24; 21 of the rebounds were offensive.

Petke started the Dragons off by scoring eight of their first 10 points, putting the Dragons ahead 10-4.

The Beavers responded by scoring eight unanswered points, 16-12 with 11 minutes to play in the first half.

Hutch wasn’t going away and added another run of eight points, 24-12 with seven minutes to play.

As halftime hit, the Dragons were ahead 31-24.

The Dragons opened the second half by scoring the first six points, extending their lead, 37-24.

Pratt kept up with the Hutch to pull within nine, 54-45 with nine minutes remaining.

The Dragons continued to push their lead and went on a 13-0 run, 71-47. Hutch ended the game winning 82-57.

The Hutch defense was able to hold the Beavers to only one of 12 shots taken.

The Dragons advanced on to the semifinals. They are scheduled to play Independence on March 6 at 3 p.m.
