This year, The Collegian is doing its first-ever ticket giveaway, thanks to a partnership with the Kansas State Fair.
These giveaways will be available to current Hutchinson Community College students, faculty and staff. The Collegian will be giving away tickets today in the student union to the two who finish the maze on page 3 the fastest. Additionally, anyone who tries the maze will be automatically entered to win a drawing for other tickets.
Dillons Day, which is on Monday, students are encouraged to follow Collegian social media accounts for details on how to win concert tickets. Up for grabs are two tickets to see Josiah Queen and two tickets to Ludacris.
While current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to participate in most giveaways, only students can win the concert tickets. All winners will be required to show a school or staff ID when picking up their prizes.
The first state fair winners were announced during the Activities Fair last week. Students Kyler Gillespie and Audrey Devena walked away with a variety of prizes. Gillespie won two admission tickets and two roundup SkyRide passes, while Devena received two admission tickets and two Midway cards, each preloaded with 65 tickets.
Collegian advisor Brad Hallier said the program is about more than just winning prizes.
“We’re hoping this can bring more attention to the Collegian, and have more students read the students’ work, in print and online,” Hallier said. “We appreciate the State Fair partnering with the Collegian, and we look forward to doing ticket giveaways in the future.”
The Collegian hopes that this giveaway will boost engagement and provide students with more opportunities to enjoy events and activities.
