Trying out many different things is common. For example you might try out for a new job, getting on a new team or maybe even acting.
Many college students try something and everyone always feels those stressors of having to try push yourself through a tryout or an theater audition.
Kaden Ketterl, a freshman at Hutchinson Community College, has always loved theater, but most importantly, he just loves the work that goes into a great play.
After Ketterl worked his first play ever after a little bit of convincing, he found love for theater. When Ketterl is studying his script, making sure to be the character he chose to be, he “studies an old play or film to understand a character more. What really got Ketterl out of his comfort zone was when he became the head role for the biggest play in his high school.
“It was my first time being a head role, but I will always miss it,” Ketterl said.
Ketterl has also seen the good and the bad from his time and experiences from doing theater. Understanding who you are going to be has always been Kadens strong suit and he hopes to take his skills farther in life by doing local acting for the town.
Mallorey Tuefel, a freshman at HutchCC, has been doing theater since she was in grade school. “It’s always been a lot of fun from a young age when I started,” Tuefel said.
Tuefel has a ton of theater experience but getting to know the role is a different process than other people might have.
“The best way I get to know the character is the character analysis experiment,” Tuefel said. Tuefel plans on doing theater in the future locally.
Theater is a great way to express yourself and to just have fun. Theater isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Auditioning is stressful, but the actors say it’s worth it.
