The Hutchinson Community College football team advanced to 10-0 on the season when they beat Iowa Western 42-28 in a non-conference game.
With the victory against Iowa Western, the Blue Dragons were able to secure the No. 1 spot in the NJCAA conference, allowing them to host one of the two NJCAA semifinals.
This year, No. 1 Hutchinson Blue Dragons will be matched up against the No. 4 East Mississippi Lions. These two teams will take the field 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 at Gowans Stadium.
The Lions are 9-2 overall.
East Mississippi has won five NJCAA national championships within eight years, spanning from 2011-2018. The program was also featured on two seasons of the Netflix show “Last Chance U”.
