For the fourth straight year the Hutchinson Community College football team has reached No. 1 in the NJCAA Division 1 football rankings.
Hutchinson moved up one spot from two to one. Last week’s No. 1-ranked team and last year’s NJCAA national champion, New Mexico Military Institute, lost to Tyler Junior College out of Texas, dropping them to No. 5. Iowa Western moved to No. 2 in the ranking, Northwest Mississippi and Jones, Miss. also moved up one spot each, placing themselves in third and fourth place, respectively.
The Blue Dragons are 6-0 with four of those wins coming over ranked teams, including No. 6 ranked Navarro Bulldogs, No. 8 Butler Grizzlies, the No. 10 Iowa Central Tritons, and No. 12 Coffeyville Red Ravens
The Blue Dragons have a bye week this week before traveling to Garden City to take on the 3-3 Garden City Broncbusters, in a matchup of last year’s KJCCC conference playoff championship, for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Broncbuster Stadium. Garden City received votes this week.
