Hutchinson Community College sophomore basketball player Tyler Brown has signed a letter of intent to play at Ivy League school Brown University.
Brown is the second Blue Dragon to choose an Ivy League school after his HutchCC career. The only other Blue Dragon to sign in the league was Rowdy Meeks, who attended Cornell University. He was part of the 1988 national champion team.
A 6-foot-1 guard from Derby, Brown was an influential player on Hutchinson’s 2019-20 season at 12.8 points per game.
Brown earned a 2020 All-Jayhawk West Honorable Mention selection.
It wasn’t until the end of his freshman year when he joined the starting line-up. Ever since then, he started every game the rest of his career.
In 65 games as a Blue Dragon, Brown averaged 8.8 points per game (569 points overall).
Brown’s signing makes for a whopping 46 Blue Dragon players to signed with four-year programs in head coach Steve Eck’s 11 seasons at HutchCC.
