With graduation coming closer and closer with each passing day, the people in the Records office in Parker Student Union would like to help sophomores be prepared for the big day.
On March 18-19, Lockman Hall will host the Graduation Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with booths set up ready to help any student hoping to graduate from Hutchinson Community College in May. Christina Sittler, the Graduation Specialist, quickly explained what the Graduation Fair can do for a student.
“I feel like there’s a lot of questions about ‘what will it be like, where do we go, what do we do…’ It’s a chance for them to get those out of the way,” said Sittler about the main purpose of the Graduation Fair.
“It’s a chance to reassure [the graduate] the steps they’ve done to get there… where they’re at on their way.”
One aspect that Sittler hopes gets more attention than it has at previous graduation fairs is the “Thank You” videos, which are filmed in the Waldo room and are played during the graduation ceremony.
“Years before people would always say, ‘I don’t look good’ or ‘I didn’t do my hair or makeup…’ I said ‘let’s reach out to [the cosmetology school] and let them do what they do’,” Sittler said about the fair’s attempts to draw more people into being in “Thank You” videos.
With the many booths set up at the Graduation Fair – not to mention the nachos available during the fair – it might be a good idea to swing by Lockman Hall so graduates can be fully prepared for the big day.
