The Week: Kibet opened the indoor season with a strong performance at the Shocker Prelude in Wichita on Jan. 18. Kibet broke the school record for the indoor 600 meters, winning the event in a time of 1 minutes, 19.35 seconds. That mark also set a meet record, and broke the Heskett Center record. The mark also qualified Kibet for the NJCAA Indoor Championships in March.
The season: Kibet, a sophomore from Kenya, missed his freshman indoor season with an injury. He now holds three school track or cross country records, including the cross country 8,000-meter mark and the outdoor track 800 meters.
