
The Hutchinson Community College women continued their march toward their first national championship Thursday in Lubbock, Texas, rolling by No. 5 Odessa, Texas 66-50 in the NJCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
The 13th-seeded Blue Dragons improved to 33-3 and will take on No. 8 New Mexico Junior College at 4 p.m. today. The other semifinal will feature Trinity Valley, Texas and Gulf Coast State, Florida.
Defense ruled the day for the Blue Dragons, who held the Wranglers to 35 percent shooting and a woeful 3 of 22 from 3-point range.
Makayla Vannett continued her strong national tournament by scoring 18 points. Dajanae Roebuck had 14 points and six rebounds. Tia Bradshaw added 11 points.
