“V for Vendetta” is a movie inspired by the graphic novel by the same name.
The story takes place in the United Kingdom in a post-apocalyptic world, where war and dictatorship rule everything.
The main character, V (Hugo Weaving) is a revolutionary who wants to free the English people from their corrupt police state government.
The world is broken and everybody is scared; the government is keeping information secret while V is trying to reveal that information to the world.
V finds an ally in Evey Hammond (Natalie Portman).
She works for the national and only TV channel in the country, controlled by the government.
She gets stuck in the middle of a war that she wasn’t supposed to be a part of — but fate made her a key element of the future of the country.
The movie came out in 2006 and received really good ratings.
It recently came out on Netflix. The story is a foreshadowing to 2015. It is really interesting to see how someone imagined the world would be in 2015, while writing the story 11 years ago.
The story can remind you of Hitler or other dictators.
In a more modern perspective, it reminds you of how the world could be if a certain candidate would happen to be president.
The vision in this movie is really dark. It is killing people who killed people.
Fighting fire with fire. It is a very controversial movie that doesn’t get old.
The idea of a war of revolution takes us to a time we hope we will never see. But it might happen.
