In the opening round of the Region VI tournament in the Sports Arena on Nov. 3 The Lady Dragons played against Garden City.

The Dragons won and the scores were 25-8, 25-22, and 25-13.

At the start of the first set, the Dragons scored five of the first six points then went on a 10-0 run to take the lead at 16-3.

They easily took the game, 25-8.

The second set wasn’t as easy for Hutch as the first set.

Garden City had the lead 10-8.

The Dragons went on a 10-1 run and held the lead, 19-13.

Garden City went on a 5-1 run and pulled within two points.

The score was 22-20. It was make or break time.

The Dragons quickly shut down the set and won, 25-22.

In the third and final set, Hutch was ahead 16-6, but Garden City went 6-3 run.

The score was 19-12 until Garden City posted four-straight errors to give the Dragons a 23-12 lead.

Chapman’s final two kills ended the game, 25-13.

Jai Chapman, Liberal put on a show for Hutch with match-highs of 13 kills and 14 assists.

Petra Silic, Zagreb, Croatia, ended the match with eight kills, three service aces, and one block.

Overall, the Dragons had 41 kills, five team blocks, and seven service aces.

The Dragons are scheduled to play in the semifinals of the tournament in the Sports Arena on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.

If the Dragons win this game, they will play in the championship game later on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
