The Lady Dragon soccer team put a beating on the Coffeyville Red Ravens on October 26.
Hutch’s record is 11-4 overall and 9-2 in the Jayhawk West Conference.
The Dragons started the second half with only a 1-0 lead.
However, Hutch then decided to put on a show for the audience, scoring five goals in only 12 minutes and 34 seconds.
The Dragons possessed the ball the majority of the first half.
Unfortunately, they were unable to find the back of the net until Jordan Downing, Hutchinson, ripped one in from outside the box off of a Madison Pollock, Winfield, assist.
Renee Gillespie, Wichita, started the scoring streak off, ripping a shot past the Coffeyville goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.
Just under two minutes later Pollock scores on a 3-2 break away.
Downing followed just three minutes later, scoring a record of 15 goals this season.
Two minutes later, Karrie McNutt, Winfield, steals the ball from a Coffeyville player and dribbles the ball down the field for an unassisted goal.
The HCC scoring frenzy ended four minutes after McNutt’s goal on a break away, Sarah Feakins, Cape Coral, Florida, sent a beautiful cross for Gillespie to finish, and score her second goal of the game.
Pollock was awarded the game-winning goal in the 88th minute, with her first multi-goal game, off an assist from Gillespie.
This was Pollock’s fifth goal since she has started playing offense.
This was Hutch’s third straight shut out and seventh of the season.
The Dragons are scheduled to play on Oct. 31 in the opening round of the Region VI Tournament.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m.
The Dragons are preparing to take championship of the Region VI this season after being runner-up in the previous, 2014, season.
