Last weekend the Forensics team competed in a tough competition at the American Forensics Association Individual Events Tournament in Portland, Oregon.

There were over 250 individuals in each competition.

The Hutchinson Community College forensics team placed 3rd nationally in the community college division.

This was also the first time Hutchinson Community College ever qualified the entire team for nationals.

The team did not break any competitors to quarterfinals, but did have a lot of places within the top 100.

Evan Habluetzel placed 74th in Impromptu and 77th in Informative Speaking.

Gabe Geisen placed 81st in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Kaitlynn Holman placed 92nd in both Poetry and Interpretation.

Paul Poppe, Beloit, placed 85th in Communication Analysis.

Alysa Winter and Rachel Barlow, Inman, both got 90th in Duo Interpretation.

Rachel Barlow also placed 72nd in Duo Interpretation with John Colclazier, Greensburg.

Shay Scott, Bellville, placed 98th in Persuasive Speaking.

The team’s assistant coach said he was proud of the team’s accomplishments and was looking forward to the next year of competition.
