Anyone into things that have a twist of the abnormal and downright strange should check out the podcast, “Welcome to Night Vale.”
The podcast is set as a news station in a little desert community called Night Vale.
The newscaster, Cecil, faithfully informs the citizens of Night Vale of the strange happenings throughout the town each day.
In the first episode, Cecil tells of a new dog park in town with an announcement from the city council.
The announcement goes as follows. “Dogs are not allowed in the dog park. People are not allowed in the dog park. It is possible you will see hooded figures in the dog park. Do not approach them. Do not approach the dog park.”
Occurrences such as this are normal, expected, even. Listeners will quickly learn about the mysterious glow cloud above the city, the dreaded Street Cleaning Day, and much more.
They will meet characters such as Old Woman Josie, The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home, and Cecil’s beloved significant other.
At the end of each episode, listeners are left with a daily proverb, such as, “Remember that all sentences must contain a noun, a verb, and the phrase, ‘foolish mortals.’”
