Baseball scores 25 on Brown Mackie

It was a record-making home opener for the Blue Dragons baseball team’s game on Feb. 24 at Hobart-Detter Field, as they stunned the Brown Mackie College Lions by a score of 25-3.

It was the most runs the Dragons had ever scored on an NJCAA baseball team.

For the first time in two years, the Blue Dragons scored over 20 points, stampeding on to win the 24-hit game in a seven-inning, run-rule victory.

The last time they scored 20 was two years ago, when they were sizzling against Rose State.

The Blue Dragons had three huge offensive innings against the Lions, batting around in all three innings.

Hutch sent 11 batters to the plate in an eight-run second inning.

Hutch took full advantage of four Brown Mackie errors in the inning, according to HCC Sports Information Director Steve Carpenter.

Eleven more Blue Dragons went to the plate in a seven-run third inning. HCC had 12 batters at the plate in a seven-run fifth inning.

The Dragons had six extra-base hits in their season-high 24-hit attack, the sports information director said.

Brady Hoover, Tate Kastens and Chaison Partridge all had doubles.

Michael Helman had a triple and Caden Doga and Nolan Hakel both hit home runs.

Doga hit a solo homer in the second for his third homer of the season.

Hakel hit a three-run home in the ninth, for his first home run of the season.
