The Lady Dragon softball team played at home against Independence on April 7.
The Dragons won both games of the double header, the first game 3-1 and the second 6-5.
The Dragons’ record is now 21-12 overall and 10-8 in the Jayhawk East.
During the first game, both teams were scoreless up until the fourth inning.
Laura Phillips, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, scored the first run for Dragons as she hit the ball into right field to finish with a homerun; the Dragons up 1-0.
Alyx Bloom, Clay Center, hit a homerun with one person on base, the Dragons were ahead 3-0, at the bottom on the fourth inning.
The Dragons won the first game 3-1.
In the first game, the Dragons were down 5-1 early in the game, but they weren’t giving up.
Hutch finally was able to bring runners to home and start to close the deficit to 5-3 at the bottom of the fourth inning.

Sarah Rothe, Hutchinson, hit a ground ball and got a double off of it. Then Sami Loos, Udall, hit a single and Rothe was able to run in to score for the Dragons at the bottom of the fifth inning, Hutch just down one 5-4.
As the last innings got underway the Dragons were able to keep their opponents from scoring.
The Dragons were able to score once more, to tie the game at the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lacey Hudson, Enid, Oklahoma, hit a fly ball at the bottom of the seventh inning and was able to get a teammate to home plate, to take the lead and end the game, ahead 6-5.
The Dragons are scheduled to play at home at Fun Valley against Johnson County on April 10 at 3 p.m.
