Emily Malecki is a pre-medicine major from Hutchinson who has spent her last year and a half at Hutchinson Community College.
She plans on transferring to Emporia State University in the fall to study psychology with the hope of becoming a psychiatrist.
Malecki is finishing up her last semester at HutchCC, and is rounding up her Associate’s degree with two difficult courses.
Here’s how Malecki handles the daily grind, with more insight into her life.
Question: What are you most looking forward to after graduation?
Emily Malecki: “I am looking forward to moving to Emporia because I’ve never moved before.”
What is your go to snack or drink after a long day of classes?
EM: “I get a raspberry and mango water from Sonic in between class and work.”
What does your class schedule look like?
EM: “I’m taking Physics II and Organic Chemistry II.”
What does your living situation look like? Who do you live with?
EM: “Right now I live with my parents in my childhood home.”
What are some songs that you currently have on repeat?
EM: “Right now I’m listening to country music, specifically ‘Your Man’ by Josh Turner and ‘Cowboys and Angels’ by Dustin Lynch.”
Do you work? If so, what do you do?
EM: “I work at a pharmacy, I’m working to get my tech license at the moment.”
What was the last TV show you binge watched?
EM: “I just finished ‘Shorsey’ on Netflix.”
What is one item you cannot live without that is not necessary?
EM: “I need my headphones at all times, I can’t do anything without music.”
What is the best idea you have ever had for a business?
EM: “I used to think about buying the old McGraw’s bar and reviving it.”
What is one question you wish people would ask you less?
EM: “How’s your brother doing?”
What are your plans after HutchCC and other goals?
EM: “After graduation I’m moving to Emporia State to get my degree in Psychology.”
What are some of your interests/hobbies?
EM: “I like reading and listening to music.”
