The Dillon Lecture Series at Hutchinson Community College is bringing another known name to campus next week. Joel Goldberg, longtime broadcaster for the Kansas City Royals, will speak on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Goldberg has spent more than 25 years covering Major League Baseball and has become one of the most familiar faces in Kansas City sports media. Along with his career in broadcasting, he’s also an author and motivational speaker who shares lessons about teamwork, leadership, and maintaining a positive mindset.
In his talks, Goldberg often focuses on the power of relationships and doing the “little things” that lead to big success.
“Doing the little things right, that’s small ball in baseball,” Goldberg said in a recent interview. “We’re all looking to play small ball in real life too — what are the little things that make us successful in whatever our everyday jobs are?”
The Dillon Lecture Series, which began in 1982, has a tradition of bringing influential speakers to HutchCC and the community. Past guests have included astronauts, journalists, authors, and activists, all sharing experiences meant to inform and inspire.
Tickets for the lecture are $10 for general admission and $20 for reserved seating. HutchCC students and school groups with a valid ID can attend for free. Tickets are available online at hutchcc.edu/dillon-lecture-series or at the door on the day of the event.
Each lecture lasts about an hour. The Dillon Lecture Series is supported through community patrons and sponsors who help keep these events accessible and educational for everyone.
