As the leaves start to change color and the smell of pumpkin and cinnamon fills the air, the Halloween spirit comes to light. As well as one of the biggest holidays of the year, Halloween. An all-time favorite to those young and old, whether it be trick-or-treating, dressing up in costume, or even just sitting at home and watching movies to fuel the holiday spirit.
The good chunk of Halloween culture is centered around horror movies, but there are so many, how could one know which movies are the best? Well, that depends on the person watching them and the movie’s overall cinematography.
Is it gory? A psychological thriller? a comedy-horror?
“I enjoy scary movies because I’m just interested in them, they’re amusing, and I get intrigued by the action that happens,” said freshman Xavius Kirkwood.
Kirkwood rated his top five horror movies as: “Insidious”; “The Conjuring”; “Annabelle”; “IT”; and Michael Myers, the killer in the “Halloween” franchise.
Everyone has different ideas of what’s scary to them.

McGill rated her top five scary movies as, “Terrifier”; “Scream”, “Dracula”; “The Invisible Man”; and “Final Destination” (the entire franchise). Though she said her favorites would vary depending on who she’s watching movies with.
Though these movies may not be what some are interested in, Rotten Tomatoeslist of its top-five scariest movies, starting with “The Exorcist”, and then “Hereditary”, “The Conjuring”, “The Shining”, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.
