College can be a stressful time for new college students. Some students bring stuff from home to make the move a little less stressful.
Something that brings Auburne Katz a taste of home is her Bean. Katz was given Bean when she was a baby and has loved her ever since. Katz said her reasoning for bringing Bean to college.
“I’ve had her since I was born,” Katz said.
Bean brings Katz comfort and a small touch of home to her college dorm.
“I can’t sleep without her,” Katz said.
Bean is exactly what Katz needed to make her feel right at home.
Katz is a freshman at Hutchinson Community College studying Pre-Law, with a minor in business. Katz plans on transferring to the University of Kansas to further her studies in Law. Katz is from Turon, which is one of the five towns that filters into the Fairfield School system.
A touch of home for Lora Larison is her, “big fuzzy gray blanket.”
The blanket reminds Larison of home because she has the same blanket in a different color back at home. The meaning behind her fuzzy blanket is that Larison and her mother used to sit on the couch under that very blanket watching movies and eating popcorn. Larison and her mother spent a lot of time on the couch with her mother.
“The comfort of the blanket helps me sleep well,” Larison said.
Larison is a Freshman at Hutchinson Community College, and is studying Agriculture.
Larison plans on transferring to Kansas State University to continue her studies in Agriculture. Larison is from Holton, and she attended the Holton High School.
Jadyn Harris brings a taste of home to college with his New Orleans Saints blanket.
Harris’s favorite team is the Saints so the blanket means home to him because of the love he has for that team.
“The blanket is comfortable,” The comfort of the blanket is nice and warm.
Harris is from the town of Lutcher, LA. Harris is a Freshman at Hutchinson Community College and is studying Computer Science. Harris is also on the football team at Hutchinson Community College.
