Television is still one of the most popular forms of entertainment in today’s society. The only hard part? Figuring out what to watch.

With streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, the possibilities are endless. Here is what the people at Hutchinson Community College are watching these days, and some of their favorites.

Mathew Wilper, economics instructor: “My favorite TV show of all time is ‘How I Met Your Mother’. I have been a fan of the show since its original run. I was a little late to the show. I started watching the show in college, about season three. It is a comfort show, I watch the show before falling asleep every night.

“I’m currently binge-watching ‘Suits’. I’m halfway through season six. This is the first time I’m watching ‘Suits’. I started watching it because of TikTok. I’m also watching a new show called ‘High Potential’. Kate Olson is a funny comedian.”

Sean Combs, Kansas City, Mo., sophomore: “My favorite show of all time is ‘Ted Lasso’ because it is very funny but also very heart warming and has a lot of life lessons in it.

“I am currently binge watching ‘Breaking Bad’ because it’s a very great action packed thriller drama, and it always keeps you on the edge of your seat.”

Amber Carithers, English instructor: “I love ‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Nailed It’, some ‘K-Dramas’ on Netflix, ‘Bridgerton’, and many others. I’m trying to finish the newest season of ‘Rings of Power’ on (Amazon) Prime. Many people have mixed feelings about ‘Ring of Power’ because it inserts new ideas and content and takes away from some of Tolkien’s original ideas and history with ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy; however, I like ‘Rings of Power’. I wish I had more time to watch TV — or, better yet, read leisurely.

“A couple of years ago, my husband and I jumped on the ‘Game of Thrones’ bandwagon right before the eighth and final season came out. After we put our daughter to bed, we would head downstairs and watch an episode every night. That was the first time I had ever faithfully binge-watched a series, and we were SO disappointed with the ending of the eighth season of GOT. I’m totally guilty of binge-watching Bridgerton when it comes out. I watch it because I love the Regency England era, and also “the plot” AKA Antony Bridergerton. I’m sure there are folks out there who will agree with my sentiment.”

Jackson Harding, Leavenworth freshman: “My favorite show of all time is ‘S.W.A.T’, one, because every episode is something new and very interesting. It’s also longer episodes, and usually has about 15 episodes per season.

“I have recently binge watched ‘Outer Banks’. I think it is very good but the second half of the new season will be better.”

Dan Naccarato, business instructor: “Favorite series of all time is ‘Game of Thrones’. Fascinating characters.  Lots of action.  Thought-provoking insights into human nature related to pursuit of power…. And the best part: Dragons

“Last series I binge-watched was a long time ago, ‘La Casa de Papel (Money Heist).’

Have been learning Spanish on DuoLingo, and it was available in Spanish on Netflix.

It was an entertaining series, and it helped me learn the language.

Me encanta España.”
