There’s a famous saying that goes something like this: ”What you reap is what you sow.”
For the Democrat party and mainstream media, the results of the 2024 Presidential election perfectly illustrate this saying.
For months, even years on end, all we heard from high ranking Democrats and news outlets like CNN and MSNBC was an onslaught of attacks against Donald Trump.
Kamala Harris called Trump a “fascist” at a CNN town hall.
Joe Biden said earlier this year that former President Trump and his supporters were a threat to “the very foundations of our republic.”
Numerous news outlets sung the same tune throughout the final weeks of the election, one of them calling a Trump rally in Madison Square Garden comparable to a Nazi rally (The Washington Post).
The Atlantic claimed that Trump was speaking like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin.
Most egregiously, President Biden himself called Trump supporters “garbage”.
So if former President Trump is a fascist, a threat to democracy, the next Hitler, surely these Democrats and news outlets will keep talking about him like this after the election right?
Nope.
Immediately after it was obvious that Trump would win the election, outlets like CNN didn’t blare headlines like “Fascist Dictator to become next president”, but instead started talking about him like he’d be our next commander-in-chief.
Why?
Because they know it’s a lie.
The majority of American voters, over 75 million people, went to the polls and willingly voted for Donald Trump – a so-called “dictator”.
Because when all else fails, call your opponent a fascist, right?
The Democrats lost this election not because our country is flawed, or our democracy is broken, or whatever buzzwords they will try to use.
They lost because they overlooked the average voter.
The average voter sees their cost of living rising. Grocery costs that are skyrocketing through the roof. Tax dollars being put towards foreign wars and supporting illegal immigrants – the mayor of Denver recently told city councilmembers that the city will likely spend $180 million on illegals coming to the area in the coming year – over three times what the city spends on the homeless.
Kamala Harris spent hours on the campaign trail defending the status quo, lecuring voters with a word salad of what a strong economy we had – completely ignoring the millions of Americans that were frustrated by the current administration.
Hell, the Biden administration completely denied for almost three years that there was anything wrong with the southern border – even though record numbers of migrants poured into the U.S.
And like it or not, the lean to the left that the Democrat party has taken the last four years has alienated voters.
Relaxed border policies. The influence of pro-Palestian and climate activists on the party, to name a few, alienating swathes of potential voters.
It doesn’t matter if some of these policies aren’t the official party policy. I guarantee voters saw the loud, obnoxious, left side of the Democrat party, and said “no thanks”.
Above all else, it was pure arroganceto me.
Talking down to voters like they didn’t know anything. Refusing, I mean absolutely refusing to have any debate on cultural issues if you or me didn’t meet the ideological bar they set.
It’s a horrible way to try and win over working class Americans – having no real economic plan and no sweeping message.
Well, I guess Kamala did have a sweeping message at first … joy?
It seemed like it was working for a while; she was up in the polls early, but after her initial momentum subsided, guess what?
Her campaign became laser-focused on painting Trump as a threat to our democracy, coinciding with a rise in polling numbers for Trump.
This is what desperation looks like. Voters in swing states probably heard more virtue signaling about Trump and his supporters than any plan to lower food costs from the Democrats … how could she have possiblylost the election?
Voters wanted a candidate who could positively affect their lives in a real way.
The American people chose Donald Trump to do that. As a moderate, we should be open to the policies that he brings with him to the Oval Office, policies that could bring about real (and mostly positive) change – whether you’re a Republican, Democrat or an Independent.
In the end though, Democrats have no one to blame but themselves.
The Democrat Party seems like it needs to change to meet voters’ needs – not the other way around.
