As the leaves begin to change and temperatures take a plummet, there are still activities to take part in this fall, whether they are Halloween related or just fun ways to get out of the house. Here are the top five things to do this fall that are affordable and not a long trip from Hutchinson.

Cedar Creek Farm and Pumpkin Patch

Address: 6100 N 119th St. W, Maize.

What better way to spend an afternoon with friends than finding a pumpkin and getting lost in a maze? Concessions, fire pit rentals, and a $20 carriage ride for two are also available for purchase. The farm closes Nov. 3

Hours

Monday – Closed

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 10 AM – 3 PM

Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 10 AM – 7 PM

Price

Wristbands are $13 per person and include activities like barrel train, corn maze, petting zoo, and pony rides.

Fox Theatre

Address: 18 E 1st Ave., Hutchinson.

Need an affordable date idea or love Halloween films? The historic downtown Fox Theatre that will provide you with a wide variety of Halloween films every weekend all month long.

Features

“The Exorcist”, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas”, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.

“The Shining”, Oct. 26. At 8 p.m.

“Hocus Pocus”, Oct.27 at 2 p.m.

Admission: $5 per person at the door, doors open 45 minutes before the film begins. Concessions are available.

Axe It Up

Address: 110 W. 2nd, Hutchinson

If you are sick of being cooped up at home, but too cold to be outside maybe it is time to try axe throwing. Just make sure to wear close toed shoes.

Hours

Friday and Saturday – 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Sunday – 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Cost

$15 per person for 30 minutes, $20 per person for 60 minutes, or $25 per person for 90 minutes. Tax and fees are not included. One lane can have up to 4 players.

Field of Screams

Address: 4055 N. Tyler Rd., Maize

Fun for large groups or just a few people, this is sure to get you into the Halloween spirit. Buy tickets quickly, the field closes Nov. 2. There are additional spooky activities you may pay for on site, like Jeb’s Shack, a 15 minute escape room.

Hours

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sundays – 7 p.m. – 11:45 p.m.

Admission

$20 per person on Thursdays and Sundays, $25 per person on Friday and Saturdays. Tickets must be purchased online ahead of time, look at the website for further details and instructions.

DJ Trivia at the Rusty Needle

Address: 1808 N Plum St.

Bring friends and put your knowledge to the test at this weekly trivia event! While you are there make sure to get some food and drinks. Don’t forget to come up with a team name.

Event

Trivia takes place on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. every week. It is free to play. You do need to call ahead to reserve a table, as it gets busy.
