The NJCAA announced Thursday that it would postpone its Division 1 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, due to concerns with COVID-19, or coronavirus.
The organization hopes to play the tournaments the week of beginning April 20.
For Hutchinson Community College, that means the women’s basketball team will put on hold its dreams of winning a national championship. The Blue Dragons earned an at-large bid to the tournament and was slated to play at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lubbock, Texas against Texas school Tyler.
The men’s tournament, which The Collegian planned to cover as a test run for future tournaments, was also slated to start Monday.
