Loribeth Reynolds/Collegian - Soloists were able to exhibit their skills during times that their bands performed on Jan. 29, during the first day of the two-day HCC Winter Jazz Festival, at the Stringer Fine Arts Center. The festival is to be renamed in honor of the late Bryce Luty, renowned jazz instructor and performer. On the evening of Jan. 29, the festival was to produce the 40th Anniversary Winter Jazz Festival Concert, featuring the Bryce Luty All-Star Alumni Big Band, which would include a number of Luty’s past students and co-workers.
